Born to free black parents in 1731, Benjamin Banneker was a naturalist, mathematician, astronomer and almanac author. He was also a landowner who worked as a surveyor and farmer. In this class, we will explore the seminal African scientific and cultural African influences that influenced the life and works of our country’s first great black scientist.
