Description

(This is a discussion-based class with brief advance reading.) During his lifetime, George Washington was already known as the “Father of His Country,” and today historians routinely call him the most indispensable of the founders. But why? This session will explore how Washington’s greatness has been defined and what, if any, critiques scholars have for his leadership. George Washington University Professor Denver Brunsman will lead a conversation about ideas expressed in an e-mailed pre-reading. The goal will be to get the group involved in asking questions and exploring issues. Articles will be sent to registered participants a week in advance.  NOTE:  if you register less than 7 days before the class, please send an email to [email protected] to have the articles sent to you.
