Description

(This is a discussion-based program with brief advance reading.)
While America has recently grappled with issues of racial justice, attention has turned to the period of Reconstruction after the Civil War. What, if anything, did Reconstruction accomplish to advance racial equality and why did the effort not accomplish more?

Prior to the session, we will email you two essays that explore these questions. Dr. Brunsman will lead a discussion about the ideas expressed in the readings. The goal will be to get the group involved in asking and exploring questions, rather than coming to a conclusion or reaching consensus.   Limit: 20

Articles will be sent to registered participants a week in advance.  NOTE:  if you register less than 7 days before the class, please send an email to [email protected] to have the articles sent to you.
