Description

(This is a discussion-based program with brief advance reading.)

For Americans, it is easy to take the creation of the United States for granted. Yet, the current scholarly interpretation stresses that American independence was anything but inevitable, as American colonists were arguably the proudest subjects of the British Empire.

Prior to the session, we will email you two essays that explore the improbability of the American Revolution.  Dr. Brunsman will lead a discussion about the ideas expressed in the readings. The goal will be to get the group involved in asking and exploring questions, rather than coming to a conclusion or reaching consensus.   Limit: 20

Articles will be sent to registered participants a week in advance.  NOTE:  if you register less than 7 days before the class, please send an email to [email protected] to have the articles sent to you.
