Pronouns are a part-of-speech that we use in everyday language. Why, then, have more people begun offering their pronouns—when they introduce themselves, in an email signature, in class, during casual conversation, or on social media? The reason is simple: the concept of gender is ever-evolving, and so are gender identities. In this class, we will discuss gender identity, the usage of pronouns, and why declaring pronouns can be an essential way to show solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community.
