The accepted definition of liberalism is to be’ free.’ In the US, most people believe that this means individual freedom, (ie) libertarianism. It also stands for civil liberty and equality in the middle class. Liberalism has a long history that includes political movements, economic ideologies, movements and struggles for power by nation states.
