Description
Many people around the world, including the United States, still hold beliefs that are rooted in superstition and a counterfactual understanding of reality. Since the Enlightenment, countervailing arguments have been presented designed to further the more “romantic” notions of magic, the supernatural and mysticism. As a consequence, entire populations in places like Asia, Africa and the Middle East have been arrested in their cognitive development and continue, to this day, to operate at a “child-like” pre-modern level. With limited or distorted understanding of reality, these individuals are denied access to modernity. Six topics will be explored, with up-to-date insights offered to help move cognition into the 21st century.
