The glaciers of Antarctica may be covering evidence of a 300 mile wide impact crater much larger than the crater left by the Yucatán Peninsula asteroid that ended the Dinosaur Age. Scientists have collected data indicating an event in Antarctica may have happened 250 million years ago, causing the largest extinction since the origin of complex multicellular life.
