As I am planning this class the markets have given back all the losses since March, and every S&P 500 stock is showing a positive return. Yet, we have not seen unemployment like this since the Great Depression, businesses are taking on debt with the hope to survive, and the Federal Deficit is ballooning. Is the stock market reflecting reality? If there is a surge of new Corona Virus infections in the fall, what will it mean for the markets? Will we see another downturn? Will the elections have an effect? Planning in unprecedented times of volatility like this can be challenging. In this class we will look at the stock and bond markets, talk about the inherent risks, and try to make sense of what is going on.
