Description

Drawing on current and historical literature, this program traces the development of religion from animism, to polytheism, to monotheism and, finally, to atheism. Arguments for the existence of God are questioned. We ask, “Can a non-believer” be religious? What is an atheist to do in today’s world? The writings of H.L. Mencken, Thomas Acquinas, Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Michel Onfrey, Hans Vaihinger, Carl Rogers, Sigmund Freud, Albert Einstein, and others are integrated into the presentation.
