Description

In this three part series, we’ll explore Christian Mysticism from the first centuries to today – from the Desert Fathers to Thomas Merton. Mysticism, a perspective found in all religions, favors personal authority over doctrinal conformity. Ever since its inception, Christianity has fostered a radical fringe of mystics who threatened mainstream theology while invigorating the very traditions they challenged. Over three sessions, we’ll study the writings of Meister Eckhart, Hildegard of Bingen, St. Theresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, and many others on our journey to both the sacred heart of Christianity and the spiritual heart within us all, regardless of creed or tradition.
