Description

We all hope for peaceful solutions to problems in the Middle East, and a valuable first step is a better understanding of the countries, peoples, and customs of the region.  Many Americans have visited Israel, but fewer have spent time in nearby Islamic countries. This presentation, with slides taken by the presenter on a recent trip to Egypt and Jordan, will introduce you to an Islamic portion of the Middle East. We will discuss such topics as the differences between Sunni and Shia Moslems, burkas and hijabs, key aspects of the history of the region, and the importance of viewing each country as a separate and unique entity.
