Description
Kim Keeline, Ph.D. will look at what women’s work was in the Middle Ages through the early 17th century, particularly focusing on how the roles of women were tightening and being more restricted as work left the home and became more industrialized. This trend would continue through the Victorian times which really codified the idea of traditional gender roles and home life/work standards. She will examine popular literature of Shakespeare’s time to show some of the tensions involved in this narrowing of opportunities for women.
