Description
Wildlife biologist Dr. Fred Bercovitch spent two years in the jungles of Africa studying cousins of apes in the wild and spent part of his early years reading the 26 books about Tarzan written by Edgar Rice Bur roughs. In this lecture Dr. Bercovitch will compare the realities Tarzan faced living with Cheeta and his friends in the jungle with what biologists know to be the facts about animal behavior. Incidentally, the name Tarzan means ‘white skin’ in ape talk and Tarzan never uttered the word “umgawa” in any of Burroughs’s 26 books.
