Ready to move beyond the basics? This class is the perfect next step for students who have completed a beginner ukulele course (or have equivalent foundational knowledge). We will build on your understanding of basic chords and strumming patterns, transforming them into full, playable songs.
In this course, you will:
  • Master Chord Transitions: Develop the speed and accuracy needed to smoothly switch between the essential beginner chords.
  • Explore New Strums: Learn more intricate and dynamic strumming techniques, including syncopated rhythms, to add variety and a professional sound to your playing.
  • Introduce Essential Chords: Learn a few new, common chords that open up a vast library of popular songs.
  • Song Structure & Play-Alongs: Focus on how songs are put together and practice playing complete pieces from start to finish, transitioning between sections and keeping a steady rhythm.
  • Basic Fingerpicking: Get an introduction to simple fingerpicking and tablature techniques.
Prerequisite: Students should be comfortable holding, tuning, and playing the basic chords (C, G, F, Am, G7)
Required: Bring a soprano, concert, or tenor size ukulele, but not a baritone size.  Also bring a digital tuner and a 3-ring binder to keep all the sheet music you will be playing.
