There are more than 400 places in the National Park System. How does a place become a national park? What’s the difference between a national park, a national monument, and a national historic site? This class will look at the origins of the national park movement from the creation of the first national park to the park system today. We’ll also discuss the differences between national parks, national forests, and other federal land systems.
