The class provides a historical overview of the weaponization and targeting of money, from the American Revolution (1775-1783) to the Israeli-Hezbollah War (2024), and explores the future of the monetary battlefield and how it may impact Americans in the future. From counterfeiting, to exchange rate manipulation, air strikes, cyberwarfare, and space, money has played a significant role in a country’s ability to wage war, but also envisioned as an actual weapon to target one’s enemy. In this class we will learn how money is weaponized and what the future of monetary warfare will mean for Americans in the twenty-first century.
