Description
Did you know that within the music universe, the accordion traditionally stood out as the instrument that got the least amount of respect and was usually the punchline to instrumental jokes?
In this class, local musician Steve Halpern will demonstrate and play both an acoustic and digital accordion to help dispel your preconceived notions of these remarkable instruments. You’ll hear samples of French, Italian, Irish, Klezmer, Mexican, Jazz and Cajun music…along with many musical facts that just might surprise and intrigue you.
Steve plays weekly at Sharp Hospital’s Integrative Healing Program. He is also a docent at the Carlsbad Museum of Making Music where he charms visitors from 5 to 95 with customized tours. He incorporates his background in science, education and entrepreneurship to enhance the appreciation of music for people from all walks of life.
