Here is an opportunity to set yourself free with mixed media, collage-assemblage. This approach to art allows for wondrous personal expression. Each session will start with an introduction to versatile materials and techniques to inspire your creativity. A short poem prompt will urge those who want to incorporate a poem into their art piece and poetic craft will be considered.  You will learn the art of collage by arranging your choice of visual materials such as photographs, fabric, pieces of painted surfaces, colored, textured and metallic paper, wallpaper, magazine pages, fiber, poetry, quotes, and other ephemera or memorabilia applied to a supporting surface. We will discuss composition and design including the principles of unity, variety, contrast, dominance, balance, harmony and repetition. You will also learn to create aesthetically pleasing color and pattern combinations. This class is appropriate for beginners and intermediates; however, everyone is welcome. The newfound confidence gained from this experience will give you a lasting understanding and appreciation of how to make and create meaningful art.
