Description

We will focus on the basics. You will start with basic watercolor painting supplies, study color theory and learn to paint the basic strokes and techniques. You will study still life, landscape, florals, and some experimental painting.  We provide artist level watercolor paper; please bring your own watercolor paper for practice.  This class meets twice a week for two weeks to give you more time to unleash your creative spirit and really get into your work.

You will need to bring the following items to class:

  • Watercolor paint (Winsor & Newton Cotman Water Colors 20 Color Paint Set)
  • Watercolor paper for practice
  • Drawing gum
  • Watercolor brushes, mini (Michael’s, Walmart or Blick Art Supply)
    • Size #1 flat
    • Size #6 round  or #8 round
    • Size #1 round or #2 round
    • PLUS one old used small brush for dipping in masking fluid
  • color palette, mini 8 wells (Available from Walmart:  Jack Richeson Plastic Slant Palette, 4 X 12 in, 8 Wells)
  • plywood or plexiglass painting board, mini 12″x 16″ (you can get this at HomeDepot)
  • painter’s tape
  • pencil and eraser
  • spray bottle (optional)
  • large plastic cottage cheese/yogurt/sour cream container for water
  • utility knife
