Description
In this class we will learn the basics of Script Calligraphy and create an upper-case and lower-case alphabet. Your instructor, Ann Dunham is an award-winning industrial designer and an artist.
Materials needed:
- sketchbook 1/4″ graph paper for practicing (Instructor will provide, or you can find 1/4″ grid paper sketchbooks at Artist and Craftsman Supply in the Hillcrest district of San Diego. Another option is Albertson’s grocery store which carries packs of “TopFlight Filler Paper Quad Rule 80 sheets, 4 Squares/Inch. The Albertson’s option is budget friendly if you just want to try calligraphy without a big upfront investment or if you don’t want to drive to a rather busy area of town.)
- various weights of brush tip markers (rather than ink bottles and nib pens. Instructor will have several on hand for you to use, or you can purchase from Michaels, Blick, or Amazon
- pencil and eraser
- Masking or grafting tape
- something to create arc shapes (compass/protractor)
- several sheets of plain copier paper
