Description
In this class we will explore pen and ink drawings overlaid with watercolor with the primary emphasis on pen and ink. We will learn techniques using the Pigma Micron pens that show how we use various line types and directions to develop textures seen in nature. In this class we will cover: Feathers, Leaves, Animal Hair, Wood Grain, and Mushrooms! In class demonstrations and studio work time experimenting with the techniques covered will help students learn to work with an underlying pen and ink drawing that comes to life by adding watercolor washes.
Members will need to bring the following:
Watercolor Paints
Watercolors (individual tubes or paint pan sets): Recommended color palette would include greens, yellows, yellow ochre, oranges, reds, indigo blue, sepia browns, white, black, Payne’s grey depending upon your choice of subject matter.
Paint Brushes
Round Brushes in Small to Medium sizes (Oasis will provide Flat Brushes)
Paper & Misc.
Sketch book of Watercolor Paper (Cold Press Finish) 9”x 12” or larger
#2 Pencil for layout sketching
Eraser and Kneaded eraser
Masking Tape
San Diego Oasis will supply Pigma Micron pens, flat brushes, markers, palettes, rulers and other miscellaneous materials.
