Textures in Watercolor can bring the surface of an object to life and make the background of your composition visually fascinating.
In this class we will cover:

  • Contrast of Color
  • Contrast of Texture
  • Brush Size, Direction and Shape Variations
Dry Surface Techniques:
  • Dry brushing-moist paint applied to a dry surface
  • Wet on Wet Techniques
  • Blotting Techniques
  • Impressed Textures
  • Mixed Media Techniques
In class demonstrations and studio work time experimenting with the techniques covered will help students develop a sense of adventure through textural discovery
Supplies:
San Diego Oasis will supply brushes, markers, palettes, rulers and other miscellaneous materials.
 
Members will need to bring the following:
Watercolors (tubes or pans): Recommended color palette would include greens, yellows, oranges, reds, indigo blue, sepia browns, white, black, Payne’s grey depending upon your choice of subject matter.
Sketch book of Watercolor Paper (Cold Press Finish) 9” x 12” or larger
#2 Pencil for layout sketching
Eraser and Kneaded eraser
Masking Tape
Round Brushes in Small to Medium sizes (Oasis will provide Flat Brushes)
