Description
Journey through some of San Diego’s most gorgeous communities on this virtual exploration of four of the city’s seven famous bridges. Along the way, you’ll discover some of Balboa Park’s gardens, architecture, and history, as well as some of Banker’s Hill’s mansions and stories. Begin on the east side of Park Boulevard, where this street’s bridge entrance is nestled next to Balboa Park’s sweet-smelling Inez Grant Parker Memorial Rose Garden. After continuing on and passing by the soothing Bea Evenson fountain, head west through the heart of Balboa Park, past the stunning California Tower, and through the colorful Plaza de Panama to reach the iconic Cabrillo Bridge, the state’s first multiple-arched cantilevered bridge.
Head northwest a few blocks to find the First Avenue Bridge (also known as the People’s Bridge), the only steel-arch bridge in San Diego. Meander by magnificent Victorian homes such as the Long-Waterman House and the Britt Scripps Manor. Last but not least, reach the Quince Street Bridge, a 236-foot-long wooden-trestle masterpiece crossing 60 feet above Maple Canyon. With so much beauty to take in and history to uncover, you don’t want to miss this fascinating virtual experience!
