Description
The goal of the fast-food movement is efficiency…a food that can be prepared quickly.
Street food was common 10,000 years ago in Egypt and continues with food vendors in cities around the world today. Modern times brought us frozen, packaged and prepared, boxed and carryout foodstuffs. The advent of the ‘fast-food’ restaurant had its beginnings in the automat and now boasts thousands of casual dining establishments that offer every ethnic cuisine on the planet.
Is our addiction to fast food a passing fancy or a replacement for real food and at-home preparation? Is it healthy, cost effective, nutritious or just a convenient way to feed the masses?
