Description
March—— SCANDAL. 1950. 105 min. Japanese w/English subtitles
Films on the Fringe is a series geared toward shedding a spotlight on movies that lie on the outer edges of Hollywood. You will be treated to an array of foreign, American independent, neglected classics and undiscovered gems. Your host, Ralph De Lauro, will present an introduction to each film and will guide a discussion following the screening. The focus of the discussion will be on the production of the film, filmic techniques used and behind-the-scenes trivia.
Toshiro Mifune burns up the screen in Akira Kurosawa’s simmering swipe at cultural moral decay and a predatory press. A celebrity photo sparks a court case when a chance meeting with a reclusive singer is twisted by the tabloids into a torrid affair.
