Description
One of the distinctive features of Disneyland rides and attractions of the 1960s and 1970s was the 3-D characters brought to life through Audio Animatronics. This allowed the artists to animate shapes with nearly as much flexibility as their cartoonists could animate drawings. Although many think that the Tiki Room (1963) was the first, the technology and the name goes back to 1960. The presentation will show details of the predecessors and the early examples of Audio Animatronics from its first dozen years in Disneyland, 1960-1972.
