Pablo Ruiz Picasso, a Spanish sculptor, painter, print-maker, theatre designer, ceramicist and poet, is one of the most famous artists in the world. His prolific output of art conveys a range of intellectual, political, amorous and social messages. French born, Francoise Gilot, a renowned painter, writer and feminist, was the mistress of Picasso for 10 years and they had two children. She later married the famous polio vaccine pioneer, Jonas Salk who founded the Salk Institute in La Jolla, California. In our class, we will explore works and the intrigue of these complicated artists.
