Description
“Aha!” experiences from hearing unexpected sounds during traveling to archaeological sites changed my life and led to breakthrough discoveries in Archaeoacoustics. This is a new field of research that combines acoustics and archaeology. See and hear the results of original investigations, so that you can appreciate the soundscapes of archaeological sites and understand their significance to our ancestors. This talk serves as an introduction to later talks on auditory illusions involving echoes at petroglyph sites in canyons, thunderous reverberation in prehistoric painted caves, and acoustic shadows at Stonehenge.
