Description
The island of Crete is located in the center of the eastern Mediterranean at the crossroads of Europe, Africa, and Asia. Its landscape oscillates between tall, rugged mountains, gentle slopes, and plateaus, making it a perfect early settlement of the Mesopotamians. In the style of Sumeria, they built massive Bronze Age architectural Palace complexes that served as the political, economic, and religious hubs of the civilization. They are known for their distinct, unfortified designs centered around large open courtyards, and vibrant wall frescoes. We will explore each of the six unique palace complexes.
