With over 200+ avian species that reside or visit Lake Hodges each year, and thousands of migratory birds wintering here, the lake and surrounding areas are an amazing habitat for wildlife viewing. Some of the famous resident birds include the Western and Clark’s Grebes. During courtship season these special birds walk on water to impress each other and impress us too! And thanks to the California Gnatcatcher, Lake Hodges was officially designated a Globally Important Birding area on April 15th of 1999 through the efforts of the San Dieguito River Park and Palomar Audubon Society. The IBA program focuses attention on the importance of conserving the biodiversity of places like Lake Hodges.
During this presentation Krisztina will take you on a photo journey of Lake Hodges, the birds and other wildlife as well as some of her favorite landscape spots. She will also share when and where to go to see the Lake in her full glory.
