Description
The U.S. Census, taken every ten years, offers historical snapshots of a given time and place. Looking at census records from 1790 to 1950 will show us the march of US history along with a glimpse into households like that of President James Monroe in 1820 Washington, a lawyer named Abraham Lincoln in 1850 Illinois, and actors Clark Gable and Carole Lombard in 1950s Hollywood.
