Description

The contemplative life is often understood as a life of solitude, silence, and prayer. But it’s deeper and wider than that. Associated with the monastic traditions of ancient India and the early Christian desert fathers and mothers of the first century, contemplative practices offer powerful coping strategies to householders as well as monastics. As authoritarian regimes gain power the world over, wielding propaganda, disinformation, and weaponized chaos, it’s more important than ever that we as individuals and communities draw wisdom from the world’s contemplative traditions in order not only to survive these difficult times, but build strategies to rewrite the future in the image of our ideals: truth, faith, wisdom, kindness, humility, and love.
