Description

Rudy Shappee, a local historian, has traveled the route of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe railroad from Topeka, Kansas to its terminus in San Diego. During his travels he not only discovered the story of how the railroad helped to open the west to settlement, but also the story of an Englishman who changed the quality of food served by the railroads by forming the nation’s first franchise, the Harvey House.
