The Hindenburg was the world’s largest airship at 804 feet and the most luxurious, featuring a restaurant, two lounges, and passenger sleeping quarters equivalent to Pullman compartments. It was a Zeppelin built in Germany, with a lineage that stretched back to 1900. The Hindenburg had made 10 successful trips from Frankfort to the United States before its fateful docking at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station in 1937.
