Description
The mind is not always reasonable. More often than not, we are led astray by unconscious cognitive biases. These biases can lead to distorted thinking and distorted cognition. Examples of these processes will be presented, using recent well known “Trumpisms.” We will look at applied examples of “de-biasing” (overcoming bias) through techniques such as “nudging”, training and the use of incentives. Consideration will be given to a theory from Evolutionary Psychology that offers a rationale for the survival value of Reason (faulty though it may be.)
