Giraffe females are quite gregarious, while males are more taciturn. Females form babysitting groups, daughters have close ties to their mothers throughout their lives, and females remain best friends with their age mates. Males, on the other hand, devote their lives to looking for sex partners. Dr. Fred Bercovitch will describe how 40 years of data collected from giraffes living in Zambia have provided some fascinating insights into the social nature of giraffes.
