From his early days as a Canadian fifties-style rocker, to his run as Greenwich Village folk-singer, to his role in the seminal LA band Buffalo Springfield (with his friend Stephen Stills), Neil Young has been at the heart of American music for sixty years. After Buffalo Springfield broke up he stayed in Laurel Canyon to join Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young and made rock history. But it’s Young’s long and eclectic solo career that really stays with us, from shape-shifting country rocker, to melancholy singer-songwriter, to proto-grunge patriarch, and back again.
