Most of us have an image of the white Spanish colonial Mission San Diego in Mission Valley. But did you know that beloved structure was not the first mission in Alta California? We are going to begin the story of Mission San Diego on Presidio Hill in 1769 with its founding by Junipero Serra. Then discuss why it was moved to its current location (sort of), why the Tipai Indians razed the mission, its rebuilding, and it role in the colonization of native people.
