Description
On a rainy, cold morning in December 1846 two military forces engaged each other in San Pasqual Valley a little north of Ramona. The United States army forces were led by Stephen W. Kearny and included a well-known scout, Kit Carson. The Mexican forces were led by Andres Pico, brother of the ex-governor of Mexican California. What was the mission of each leader and how well did either one of them succeed? We will explore the folklore surrounding the battle, examine what really took place and why, and take a virtual tour of the battlefield.
