Description

The hard US posture toward China originated in Washington during the Trump administration and gradually gained more support, with both presidential candidates in 2020 promising tough approaches.  While the overall US approach toward China will remain firm and wary, President-elect Biden and several of his advisers have a somewhat more nuanced approach for dealing with China.  How US domestic differences are resolved will determine whether or not there is a significant easing of US pressure against China in the months ahead.
