Description

Do you have lots of artwork from lots of classes, workshops, practice and experiments filling up your closets, drawers and garage? Demos, examples and brainstorming  will open your eyes to possibilities from highly functional to completely whimsical. You will work on your upcycle choices in class. Ready for transformation?

As the saying goes: “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” Let’s upcycle!

Day 1: Planning

Bring a bunch of artwork you have made and stored in closets and drawers. Experiments or assignments from various classes, workshops, etc. Drawings, paintings, mixed media, any media, scraps of this and that.  Bring work you would like to transform into something else—either functional or decorative. You will be altering them in this workshop.

We will brainstorm and sketch, imagine and float possibilities and create prototypes. Then you will decide on what you would like to transform in session 2.

There will be some demos and slides of transformed artwork to get you thinking.

Session #2: Transforming and Upcycling

Depending on what you decide on, you might need additional materials, e.g. acrylic paint, acrylic medium, etc. It will all depend on what you decide and most materials will be ones you probably already have or are easy to get.
