This ongoing series will use examples from movies, TV, and books to highlight different archetypes and their role in crafting a satisfying story with universal appeal. This session will focus on the Mentor archetype, a character that’s often the protector. The Mentor protects the Hero as well as offering advice and aid to sidekicks and secondary characters. Yoda, from Star Wars, and Gandalf, from Lord of the Rings, are classic Mentor archetypes.
