Description
In five weeks, you will be introduced to how to use a knife to make controlled safe cuts on wood, how to sharpen a knife for carving, wood types, how to cut out a carving “blank”, how to finish your carving, and sources of wood and carving tools. At the beginning of each meeting, we will spend 15 to 30 minutes on the topic of the day and the balance of the meeting will be devoted to carving. There is a $4.00 cash charge at the first meeting to pay for a carving blank. You will be supplied with a comfort bird carving blank for your carving and a whittling stick to practice making safe carving cuts with your new knife. If you have a carving knife bring it to the first class. There will be knives to borrow if you don’t have one.
