Description

The horse has a long relationship with the human species, first as a prey species wild animal and later in many roles as a domesticated species.  The roles of the horse in human contexts include: a mode of transport for riders; a draft animal pulling wagons, plows, and chariots; a symbol of power and wealth in times of war and peace; and an athlete in racing, jumping, polo, dressage, and rodeo.  This talk will review the evolution, physiology, behavior, the relationship with people, and selected breeds of horse.
